Spi Ouest France 2024: 8th out of 20 in very sporting conditions!

“The Spi Ouest France 2024 was 4 days of racing in very windy and even rough conditions! It was a great opportunity to sail with a crew and get my bearings in strong winds aboard my new boat. There were quite a few Figaro class leaders, old and new, at this major annual gathering in La Trinité-sur-Mer.
We managed to sail 8 races, with both constructed courses and day-long coastal courses, which are very similar to the formats of the pre-season races.
This enabled me to work on my starts and contact racing, at the helm of my new Figaro 3 FAUN.
I’ve benefited from the expert advice of my 3 team-mates to gain experience in strategy and tactics, and it’s always very interesting to be able to have an outside view of my way of sailing to correct some of my faults“.

We finished 8^th out of 20 boats in the overall rankings. Top 10 out of 20 experienced boats for a first time is a great place to finish!

“La course a très mal commencé, on a mordu le départ sur la première course et on s’est donc fait disqualifier. On s’ est rattrapé le deuxième jour en remportant une manche, top et de bon augure vu le niveau du plateau ! La fin a été un peu plus mitigée. On termine 8e sur 20 au classement général. Un Top 10 sur 20 bateaux expérimentés pour une première c’est une super place !
La pénalité du premier jour nous a refroidi, donc on a été moins incisifs après, mais cette course était idéale pour naviguer dans des conditions très sportives.
Ça m’a permis de tester des voiles que je ne connaissais pas pour faire mon choix futur définitif sur la Solitaire, et j’ai également pu valider quelques points techniques. C’est reparti en solitaire pour la prochaine course : départ de la Solo Maitre Coq le 28 avril aux Sables d’Olonne. Mais avant tout, cette semaine je suis chez FAUN pour partager ma passion auprès des écoliers, et leur donner les bonnes habitudes de tri…et peut-être le goût du large !“
